Job Description

Our Accountant 3 position within Accounting is primarily responsible for performing account reconciliations and financial analysis of a complex nature as well as assisting with the review of general ledger journal entries and reconciliations completed by team members with less experience. This individual will support teammates who are responsible for the following areas: Consumer & Business Banking, Private Client Group, Foreign Exchange, Commodities and Corporate Marketing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently reconciling complex general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner by applying accounting principles and complying with bank policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with testing and account mapping related to system implementations and the introduction of new products.
  • Assisting in researching issues with complex general ledger accounts and complex accounting/financial analysis.
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to quality assurance in work produced.
  • Researching and resolving any differences in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensuring that any changes in the reconciliation process are documented in the Departmental Procedures to ensure compliance with Huntington Accounting Policies and GAAP.
  • Providing reporting for quarter-end requirements.
  • Preparing and uploading accounting entries that post to the general ledger.
  • Assisting with other projects, such as process mapping, as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Business.
  • 5 + years' experience in an Accounting capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred.
  • Banking/Financial Services Accounting experience preferred
  • Demonstrate the vision and values of Huntington.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel; Essbase and Accurate NXG knowledge would be a plus.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals within and outside of the department to resolve account reconciliation issues.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Take initiative for continuous improvement relating to processes to be more effective.
  • Ability to work additional hours when needed to meet established deadlines.
