Brief Description:

Full time Accountant 3 position within Accounting that is primarily responsible for performing account reconciliations and financial analysis of a complex nature as well as assisting with the review of general ledger journal entries and reconciliation completed by team members with less experience. This individual will support teammates who are responsible for the following areas: Huntington Wealth Advisors, Trust, Foreign Exchange, Commodities and Corporate Marketing.

Detailed Description:

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently reconcile complex general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner by applying accounting principles and complying with bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist with testing and account mapping related to system implementations and the introduction of new products.
  • Assist in researching issues with complex general ledger accounts and complex accounting/financial analysis.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality assurance in work produced.
  • Research and resolve any differences in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that any changes in the reconciliation process are documented in the Departmental Procedures to ensure compliance with Huntington Accounting Policies and GAAP.
  • Provide reporting for quarter-end requirements.
  • Prepare and upload accounting entries that post to the general ledger.
  • Assist with other projects, such as process mapping, as necessary.

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Business required.
  • 5+ years Banking or Financial Services experience in Accounting capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred.
  • Demonstrate the vision and values of Huntington.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel; Essbase and Accurate NXG knowledge would be a plus.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals within and outside of the department to resolve account reconciliation issues.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Take initiative for continuous improvement relating to processes to be more effective.
  • Ability to work additional hours when needed to meet established deadlines.
