Job Description

  • Develops and maintains profitable business banking relationships within the retail environment and within lending limits (larger loans go through commercial lending).
  • Supervises a team of Business Bankers within a market.
  • Position may or may not include direct portfolio responsibility as defined by the Business Area Manager.
  • Able to assess and understand financial statements of companies up to $25MM in sales revenue.
  • Responsibilities include identifying needs, recommending products (including cross sales) and negotiating loan terms.
  • Coordinates approval of loans through the Business Loan Center, portfolio risk monitoring and implementation of a business strategy to meet the group's financial and sales goals.
  • In conjunction with Business Development Leader, works closely with banking office staff to promote business banking sales.
  • Establishes relationships with community and centers of influence to further business development efforts.
  • Monitors day light overdrafts. Adheres to pricing discipline and credit quality standards.
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for risk management, compliance and audit performance for area(s) of responsibility whether a supervisor, manager or individual contributor.
  • Establishes or works with management to develop effective controls and processes to ensure risks are measured, monitored and controlled and compliance requirements are adhered to on an on-going basis.
  • If applicable, ensures staff is properly trained, provided with appropriate resources and motivated to adhere to risk management principles.
  • Maintains current knowledge of risk-related changes that may impact assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent of an additional 4 years' combination of education and business banking experience
  • 7+ years' experience -- Commercial lending relationship manager experience (Corporate or Business Banking)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management experience
  • Strong consultative sales background
  • Previous coaching, leadership, development skills/experience
  • Ability to work in face paced environment with strong focus on customer service.
  • Strong credit experience
