  • Serve as Huntington's primary internal expert on Privacy and coordinate strategy and operations in conjunction with Legal and other Risk partners in the area of Privacy and Data Protection who are assigned responsibility to specific Business functions
  • Direct and oversee the firm's Enterprise Privacy program, including in consultation with IT and the Business Segment Compliance team the implementation of a data governance program and the development of policies and internal controls.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and promote activities to foster privacy awareness, including training, within the organization and related entities.
  • Ensure that Privacy Compliance is seen as an essential business partner and enabler by Huntington senior leaders and stakeholders/clients through supporting Huntington's functions with compelling Privacy leadership proof points and expertise. Consult with business leads on creating innovative solutions that help Huntington distinguish itself in the market. Provide business with best in class insight on trends in Privacy.
    • Perform risk assessments to determine where systems may be vulnerable to a data privacy risks and conduct related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the firm's other functions.
    • Implement processes that monitor and measure the effectiveness of the Enterprise Privacy compliance program in order to identify successes as well potential areas of privacy vulnerability, risks, and areas for further improvement. Responsible for developing mitigation plans for prioritized exposures.
    • Identify key risk metrics, including limits and other key measures.
    • Maintain knowledge about all Huntington Business Segments and Functions; the organizations, products and services offered, and business and function leads, in order to establish relationships within those organizations.
    • Keep updated on the evolving privacy regulatory landscape and (a) recognize the potential impact on Huntington; and (b) understand the impact on the team's current operations, processes and tools and ensure projects and tasks are initiated to reflect the changing landscape.
    • Maintain close partnerships and relationships with other Compliance Officers to assist them in achieving compliance with privacy and data protection regulations and internal expectations.
    • Establish, oversee and lead the Privacy and Data Protection committee to ensure risks are identified, mitigations are put in place and governance occurs throughout the organization.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with peers at other leading external, customer and partner organizations and maintain contact with leading external organizations (e.g. IAPP, IAF) and represent Huntington at relevant major privacy conferences and external events (e.g. IAPP, RSA, etc.).

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7 + years of experience in Privacy regulatory compliance or equivalent experience in the risk management and/or the legal aspects of Privacy laws and regulations
  • Experience leading large scale projects across a mid to large size financial institution
