Commercial Banking Credit Specialist

Brief Description: Administers multiple functions for the commercial real estate lending portfolio management team. Primary responsibilities include tracking customer reporting and preparing it for inclusion in approval packages; tracking and creating shells of quarterly risk rating packages for further completion by portfolio manager or credit analyst; preparing templates and summaries of loan covenants and reporting requirements for clients; ordering real estate appraisals and credit reports; and preparing ad hoc regional reports.

Leadership: Organizes work flow for team and monitors progress on projects including preparation for periodic review meetings, criticized asset review meetings and audits.


  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners, including colleagues in credit department and in commercial loan administration and clients
  • Composes and sends reminder emails to clients for required financial reports coming due or past due
  • Sends in customer financial statements and other required customer reporting upon receipt for logging/filing
  • Spreads financial statements for existing clients and on an as-needed basis for prospective clients
  • Tracks and creates new risk rating packages for further completion by portfolio manager or credit analyst
  • Assists with preparation for internal and external audits
  • Maintains customer credit files in accordance with Credit Policy
  • Utilizes online Real Estate Tracking System to order real estate appraisals and evaluations and submit completed environmental reports and real estate appraisals for review
  • Utilizes AFS to access client loan balances, activity and terms
  • Utilizes Hogan and ESS to access client deposit balances and activity
  • Utilizes OnePoint to access relationship profitability
  • Assists regional market portfolio manager with projects as needed
  • Pull and distribute financial statement past due and coming due reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial credit experience
  • High School Diploma

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Banking
  • Minimum of 2 college level accounting classes preferred
  • Experience with AFS, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to use teamwork to resolve issues and collaborate with others
  • Proven problem solving skills handling complex issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
  • Strong client service skills
  • Desire to learn financial statement spreading by gaining familiarity with financial statement accounting
