Role Snapshot

The Communications Manager is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation and management of all internal and external communication strategies for Huntington's Consumer and Business Bank (CBB) segment. Serving both as a strategic counselor and a hands-on leader, this role is responsible for creating and implementing creative and effective communication strategies closely aligned with Huntington's business goals.


  • Design and manage communications for the Director of the Consumer & Business Bank, including quarterly calls, state of the segment updates, and weekly communications, among others.
  • Craft new, innovative ways to build awareness, enhance colleague engagement and promote understanding of the segment's business priorities and key initiatives.
  • Develop deep relationships and cultivate trust with CBB senior leadership and partners to garner insights and story ideas to optimize messaging across segment.
  • Increase/elevate Huntington's position and reputation through high-profile thought leadership initiatives on Director of CBB's social media accounts.
  • Provides CBB leadership with expert strategic counsel, guidance and recommendations on the type, content and frequency of communication to support segment goals.
  • Monitor banking and communications industry trends and maximizes related opportunities as identified on an ongoing basis, and track and manage key emerging issues.
  • Develop external communication plan and related collateral including press releases, and oversee coordination, planning and execution of all external communications including providing counsel to the segment's leadership team, and agency management, in close partnership with Huntington's head of Public Relations.
  • Ensure all communications materials support the company's brand strategy and meet the company's style and quality standards. 
  • Adhere to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Accountable for risk management, compliance and audit performance for area(s) of responsibility.

You're a creative thinker, strategic counselor and strong project manager; you're able to think big picture, but you care about all the details.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Business.
  • A minimum of 7 years of Public Relations and/or Communications experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong communications manager, who can collaborate well with colleagues at various levels within the organization and different business segment teams.
  • Solid plan development, coordination and execution skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong working knowledge of Consumer & Business Banking.
  • Agency experience in account management or public relations (preferable)
  • Graphic design and videography skills a big plus.
  • Strong professional writing experience, specifically external communications: press releases, speeches/talking points, media statements.
  • Strong media relations practitioner, both regionally and with national media, and with trade publications.
  • Must have exceptional strategic thinking skills, strong storytelling skills, and significant communications experience working with senior executives.
  • Some video production and script development experience.
