Job Description

Huntington Bank is looking for a data warehouse platform engineer in our Data Technology organization. As EDW Platform Engineer, you will work closely with the data technology organization and Chief Data & Architecture Office (CDAO) to enable the long-term data strategy and vision for the company.

If you consider data as a strategic asset, evangelize the value of good data and insights, are an experienced engineer in data platforms, have deep understanding of data infrastructure, and love building data warehouse infrastructures, this role is for you.

You will be responsible for engineering the enterprise data platform for EDW, including delivering innovation and enabling next-generation capabilities. You will work closely with database administration and development teams to understand capacity and service level requirements, proactively manage workload, and create appropriate plans. You will also partner with other Data Technology organization staff to architect, build and run an effective data platform, as well as key leaders in business and technology to understand and support their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, monitor and maintain EDW technology currency, capacity and availability plans for compute, storage, network, and other relevant metrics

  • Define SLA needs and levels from the business and enterprise architecture; work with technology to understand, monitor and meet defined levels

  • Plan and drive platform patch & upgrade planning and estimation activities

  • Proactively forecast and manage EDW system workload, providing recommendations for adjustments and balancing

  • Manage batch work load needs; recommend and drive approaches to managing workloads, define priorities, job workflows and monitoring / alerting

  • Manage & Implement DR Plans for the Environment

  • Understand and implement enterprise standards and guidelines, including addressing security -- with data warehouse vendor and infrastructure teams

  • Support testing and configuration management tasks for platform pre-production and production environments

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of experience in data warehouse engineering

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in interacting with data warehouses via SQL, command-line and management tools

  • 3+ years of experience in supporting ITIL functions for a data warehouse, including capacity planning

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with staff throughout the organization
  • Experience with IBM DB2 Data Warehouse Platform

  • Experience with WLM, DB2 administration

  • Experience with DevOps tools

  • Experience with modern data warehouse architectures including Hadoop and cloud

  • Experience with security and access management tools
