Brief Description:
The Release Manager [RM] will own the Enterprise Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, planning, coordinating, and the management of releases across the program for the IT Portfolio, Applications, and Infrastructure. The releases can be comprised of: multi projects with applications aligned to planned release schedules; single significant change events across the enterprise; Infrastructure release and change driven events; enterprise vulnerability patching events; and security improvements and hardware upgrades. The RM will also provide the expertise in tools and services to help the teams manage and deploy releases into production.

Detailed Description:
The RM role requires independent operations and ownership of all release event pre-planning and alignment of stakeholder responsibility's, event management to direct and drive all components of the Release event, incident management, and post event closure and reporting. The RM should be capable to make event critical decisions such as when to end, when additional support is required, escalation to senior management, and accurate tracking and communications specific to the status of the events.
The RM needs to have the capability to independently drive all aspects of the Release Management reporting and tracking processes to include reporting metrics and key performance indicators, required score-carding, and analytics. This includes technical and capability/reporting, post release decks, weekly release statuses, and operational analytics.
The RM needs to play a lead role in defining the strategic direction for release management tools to ensure the process requirements of release management are built in. The RM will assist in managing projects interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence to ensure the integrity of the release can be measured.

Responsibilities of the RM Role:
* Oversee release management of applications and Infrastructure to ensure no adverse impact to production services and ensure the technical integrity of the applications.
* With no direction conduct, facilitate and lead the release coordination meetings and report risk and status to management.
* Validating release notes are updated for all projects and summarized and communicated to the business.
* Coordinate with the Test, Development and Service Management teams during a release.
* Engage with projects in early phases to ensure alignment with the overall release calendar and corresponding freeze periods.
* Conduct internal management reporting on release schedules and plans
* Coordinate with Project & Program Managers to monitor and track project and release risks and issues.
* Collaborate with QA Manager in ensuring proper Release Plans, Test Plans, and Acceptance Criteria are set.
* Collaborate with Incident Management and Problem Management teams in resolving issues and analyzing root cause.
* Drive consistent and measurable processes that will ensure the quality of the change is assured, and fallback options are clearly identified and delivered in the event they are required.
* Ensure implementations are traceable, secure and that only the correct, authorized and tested versions are installed in production environment.
* Own the release calendar, produce detailed release plans, control release scope.
* Responsible for defining, owning and reporting on relevant KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure that the leadership teams and stakeholders can accurately assess the health and performance of the applications portfolio Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities.
* Be responsible and accountable for meeting the expectations of the business partners. Seeks, suggests and when appropriate, implements initiatives for improved processes, additional business benefits, reduced costs, etc.
* Works across the Enterprise IT organization and line of business/segments to ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently high-quality.
* Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Go Live reviews
* Working with project managers, technical leads and test leads to track status.
* Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
* Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams
* Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
* Continually work towards making improvements in the release process

Basic Qualifications:
* Min 3 years of prior technical experienc including experience as part of a core ITIL Incident, Problem, Change or Release.
* Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:
* Proficient in rolling out methodologies, processes, standards and/or policies.
* Minimum of ITIL Foundations certification.
* Proven track record of coordinating successful releases across functional boundaries.
* Prior experience with methodologies, processes, standards and/or policies.
* Self-confident, results-oriented, persuasive and influential.
* Proficient in fostering collaboration across organizational boundaries.
* High levels of communication, interpersonal skills, and of integrity/personal ethics are essential.
* Ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems.
* Ability to comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
* Organizational and process development/documentation skills
* IT technical background in either Software Development, QA Testing, IT project management, or IT Service Delivery management
* ITIL certification
