Job Description

A Huntington Retirement Plan Sales Consultant will be responsible for developing new retirement plan business across all internal business lines and referral sources outside the bank. Each sales consultant will be responsible for selling bundled, unbundled, and investment management services to middle market plan sponsors. The sales consultant will be responsible for an annual revenue goal based on their geographic territory. The sales consultant will be required to develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external referral sources. The sales consultant should be comfortable making a minimum of 30 sales calls per month, includes meetings with referral sources to identify new prospects. A minimum of 15 of the 30 sales calls should be with plan sponsors who are considering a change of providers and a proposal has been made.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of experience in Retirement Plan Services
  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Series 6 license
  • Life and Health License
  • The sales Consultant should have at least 3 years of experience selling directly to plan sponsors with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue/asset goals
  • Experience should be either selling bundled defined contribution plan services or advising clients on their qualified plans
  • Selling through intermediaries (i.e. bankers, advisors, consultants) is a plus.
  • Strong networking skills
  • Some travel will be required (25%+) including overnight travel
  • A good understanding of plan design and current ERISA issues
  • Must have strong knowledge of defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, and non-qualified plans
  • Ability to maintain an active pipeline and use internal applications to keep management appraised on progress
  • Must be able to use a consultative sales approach to identify a prospect's specific needs and offer a custom solution
  • The candidate should have a strong knowledge of investment options and understand the fiduciary requirements of plan sponsors
  • Ability to provide investment analysis of client's fund options and the ability to offer suitable alternatives from Huntington's fund offering
