Job Description

The IT Segment Risk Manager is responsible for aspects of the segment risk program within the Operations Segment.

Detailed responsibilities include the following:


• Work with Operations Segment management to ensure that the risk function is effectively supporting strategic goals.
• Act as a central point for receipt and distribution of important risk information. Maintain two-way communication with Corporate Risk Management to ensure an effective flow of information with regard to risk matters.
• Ensure that business risks are assessed correctly. Advise and collaborate with the business line in designing controls to mitigate the risks. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of enterprise and regulatory controls. Oversee designing tests that accurately measure effectiveness, in accordance with Corporate Risk Management requirements.
• Participate in the process for writing a comprehensive and supported periodic risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) in collaboration with key partners.
• Act as a liaison during regulatory and audit reviews.
• Ensure that the Operations Segment adheres to corporate and business unit policies and procedures.
• Certify that risks, metrics, internal controls, and losses are accurately and completely represented in the corporate risk system of record.
• Elevate risk issues and incidents requiring attention, as well as potential solutions, in a timely manner to senior management within the segment as well as the corporation.
• Maintain a broad awareness of multiple layers of risks involved in a wide range of areas across the Bank to include credit, legal, liquidity, market, operational, regulatory, reputational, and strategic risks.
• Drive the risk culture by establishing expectations, ownership, and accountability for risk management within the business segment that includes reinforcement and education/training.
• Manage highly visible risk projects for the team and the Segment as appropriate.
• Assist the Business Segment with the measurement and understanding of its Information and Technology risks, and managing those risks in line with Segment and Corporate risk appetite.
• Support IT control owners by providing expertise to ensure effective IT control design and implementation.
• Represent the Business Segment on the Bank-wide IT Risk Committee, and contributing to the success of same.

Basic Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years of segment/risk management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience preferably in a banking/financial services organization with a focus on operations and/or payment processes/systems
• 10 years in a technology role, directly supporting technology processes or assets (applications/systems/etc.)
• Possesses an expert level of knowledge of the general IT process -- the components that comprise Information and Technology, the methodologies used to support IT, and associated industry frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, and similar.
• 7 years in an IT Risk role (within any IT risk domain), which required the ability to measure and balance risk, define effective controls, and assess/communicate residual risk to senior business stakeholders.
• Strong preference for recognized industry certifications: ISACA CRISC/CISA/CISM, ISC2 CISSP/SSCP, or similar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven team-building and management skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with and manage people.
• Ability to multitask.
