Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Segment Risk Manager to join the Private Client Group Segment Risk team. Our job is to partner with our first line business leaders to proactively identify, measure, monitor and report the key risks in our business units.  The Huntington Private Client Group (PCG) includes multiple business units such as Private Banking, Wealth and Investment Management, Personal Trust, Corporate Trust, Retirement Plan Services, Trust Custody, Huntington Insurance and our Vehicle Finance units. In addition, the segment risk team provides coverage for our Regional Banking organization, Corporate Marketing & Communications as well as the bank's Government Affairs program activities.

The currently available role serves as the first line risk officer in support of our Private Banking and Huntington Insurance units although coverage assignments may change or vary over time. The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of risk management experience in a large bank or financial services environment with advanced knowledge of standard risk management programs such as risk and control self-assessments, process mapping, control design, control testing, issue management and others.   Candidates must be hand-on self-starters with a strong-problem solving orientation. The ability to be effective and operate independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment is critical.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Timely identification and escalation to senior management of all key risk issues requiring attention
  • Effective partnership with business leaders to enhance risk awareness and support fully-informed decision making in the assigned business units
  • Strong collaboration with other control partners (enterprise risk, legal, corporate compliance and audit) to deliver a fully integrated risk and control framework.
  • Ensure adequate documentation of all key risks, controls, control tests and metrics in the system of record; analyze and resolve inadequate risk system records
  • Review policy and procedures (new and updates) as needed
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and support timely resolution of all findings/action plans within the units
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Segment Risk Officer

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible risk management experience in a large bank, trust department or investment advisory environment
  • Graduate level education or relevant industry certifications may substitute for two years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of risk management programs and principals, including experience assessing risks, analyzing testing results and action plan development.
  • Excellent project management, analytical problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Effective advisory and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Team player.
  • Managerial courage.
