Senior Segment Risk Manager -- Home Lending in Columbus at Huntington

Job Description

Detailed responsibilities include the following:

  • Work with Home and Consumer Lending ("Home Lending") management to ensure risks and controls are effectively integrated into business operations, including those associated with compliance, operational, credit, and technology within the Operations and Underwriting business units.
  • Ensure business risks are assessed correctly. Advise and collaborate with the business line in designing controls to mitigate risk. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of enterprise and regulatory controls. Oversee designing tests that accurately measure effectiveness, in accordance with Corporate Risk Management requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with business partners that involve business strategy, planned process changes, major policy or procedure changes, and other similar activities, including significant business transformation initiatives.
  • Coordinate all first line of defense risk management activities, including finding management, information governance in Huntington's risk management system of record, dashboard reporting, and second line of defense initiatives.
  • Serve as central point of contact for engagement with Consumer and Business Banking on matters impacting Home Lending Operations and Underwriting.
  • Act as a central point for receipt and distribution of important risk information. Maintain two-way communication with Corporate Risk Management, including Corporate Compliance, Operational Risk, Legal, Strategic Risk, and other key stakeholders.
  • Periodically draft risk and control self-assessments for the Operations and Underwriting business units.
  • Act as a liaison during regulatory and audit reviews.
  • Certify that risks, metrics, internal controls, and losses are accurately and completely represented in the corporate risk system of record.
  • Elevate risk issues and incidents requiring attention, as well as potential solutions, in a timely manner to senior management within the segment as well as the corporation. Reinforce corporate risk culture through these activities.
  • Manage highly visible risk projects for the team and the Segment as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or four additional years of mortgage or consumer lending risk related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of segment/risk management experience

Preferred Qualification:

  • 7+ years of mortgage-specific experience in a large, complex financial institution or other type of mortgage originators subject to federal consumer financial protection laws.
  • 5+ years in core risk management experience supporting end-to-end risk management spanning multiple business units.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a high utilization environment (e.g., high volume of meetings, multiple competing priorities) and operating as a single point of contact for all risk-related matters.
  • Comfort making complex risk decisions autonomously and with appropriate documentation and rationale.
  • Comfort prioritizing competing objectives.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
